Jan Vrieling

Regional manager, Northern Netherlands at Bouwselect BV

I was born in 1981 and grew up in Roden. I had a happy, carefree childhood. As a little boy I was very early on with motorbikes and cars on my father's property. After living in Roden for a long time, I thought it was time to leave home and moved to Groningen. I lived alone for about 5 years, then together with my girlfriend and beautiful son. We now live in Leek and we have added a dog to our family. In my spare time I like to walk with him. I also like going out for dinner and drinks. And regularly I can be found along the waterfront to cast a fishing rod.

The best thing about fishing is of course when you have a bite. I also like 'scoring' in my work. Making the best match, for client and candidate. That business in me may be due to my studies: I did commercial courses, first MBO and then HBO. Then, in 2007, I started at Bouwselect. When the credit crisis made its appearance more and more, I noticed that I am not only interested in the commercial side of the profession, but that I also really want to mean something to people. It makes me feel really good to help someone who has been out of work for a long time.

In addition, the construction industry really appeals to me. The diversity of the work you have to deal with, the different clients. The culture of the construction world also suits me: open, honest, direct and no-nonsense. I grew up in that world and that's how I treat people myself.

And so, after all these years, I still enjoy my work every day!
