Position Summary

Reporting to the Manager, Career Services, the Coordinator, My Career Connection, will provide leadership to contract operation and team.  Operational oversight will include planning and executing programming to meet service objectives, continuous evaluation and recommending improvements to business practice, managing the contract delivery requirements, and liaising with learners and clients to ensure value and satisfaction.  The Coordinator will work closely with other organizations, industry, and stakeholders to achieve the mandate.  This position requires a strong relationship-building capacity, business acumen, high work ethic, event planning and coordination, and teamwork.

Specifically, the incumbent is responsible for the following:

  • Operationalize Programming
  • Relationship-Building and Business Development
  • Operational Supervision of the My Career Connection team
  • Evaluation

Position responsibilities and accountabilities include but are not limited to:

Operationalize Programming

  • Leads the program activities and executes the operational model.

  • Informs and supports the contract work plan.

  • Coordinates and/or fulfills the activities required to fulfill contract requirements.

  • Secures and manages the infrastructure or business requirements needed to facilitate workflow (i.e., electronic information system, space, website/tools/forms, human resources, etc.).

  • Provides advice and guidance on the necessary sequence of events, relationships, or work plan to achieve the strategy outcomes in place.

  • Informs and supports the strategies related to the contract.

  • Manages monthly contract reporting requirements.

  • Coordinates with other programs in career services to meet contract deliverables.

  • Other duties in related area as required.

Relationship-Building and Business Development

  • Supports the development of, and executes, the marketing and engagement plan for the contract.

  • Establishes market value by building learner, client and employer demand.

  • Generates and directs business prospects.

  • Strengthens relationship between BVC and industry contacts.

  • Liaises with stakeholders as the primary contact.

  • Produces presentations for community events.

 Operational Supervision of the My Career Connection operation team

  • Prioritizes, schedules, and distributes work.
  • Follows up to ensure completion of work and that objectives are met.
  • Assigns, checks, and reviews work to ensure continuity of workflow.
  • Provides informal training and day-to day orientation to duties.
  • Participates in the interviewing and selection of new employees with out of scope supervisor.
  • Provides guidance and clarification on expected duties.
  • Instructs employees in work methods and procedures.
  • Informs employees of policies, procedures, and reporting relationships.
  • Communicates job expectations.
  • Provides support, direction and consultation to staff.
  • Provides methods for completing work and provides instructions on the application of policies, processes and procedures or situations that deviate from the norm.

Evaluation

  • Reports on the contract activities and outcomes as required.
  • Recommends internal improvements to supervisor to ensure a learner and client-driven operating model.
  • Broadcasts and educates internal and external audiences regarding the activities and services.

Required qualifications:

  • 1 to 2 years of experience in a related role
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Excellent customer service and relationship building skills
  • An equivalent combination of directly related education and experience may be considered
  • Business acumen and knowledge of career development industry
  • Project Management and office management
  • Interpersonal and communication skills
  • If your education was received internationally we will require you provide an international education assessment through IQAS, WES, or one of the other nationally designated organizations upon hire

This opening is a part time (FTE 0.6) project AUPE position. Please note all successful candidates will be required to provide copies of government issued identification and proof of educational qualifications upon hire and may be required to provide an enhanced police information check.
