Bruce Turner

Executive in Residence at Boxer Capital

Bruce Turner, M.D., Ph.D., joined Boxer Capital, LLC in 2017. Prior to joining Boxer, Dr. Turner was employed at Hoffman-La Roche for five years, where his most recent role was working with the head of Research & Development on the re-organization of the cardiovascular franchise among other responsibilities. Additionally, at Roche he held the senior position of Expert Scientist in the pRED Research & Development organization. Prior to joining Roche, Dr. Turner was Vice President of Ionis Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (formerly Isis Pharmaceuticals, Inc.) working in cardiovascular drug development and business development (2010-2012).

Former experience includes years spent at Bank of America Merrill Lynch as Global Head of Healthcare, managing a portfolio of healthcare equities and as a Partner and Portfolio Manager of Diker Management, a healthcare hedge fund.

Dr. Turner received an M.D. from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine (1992), a Ph.D. in Molecular Biology from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine (1992), and Bachelor of Art’s degree in biology from the University of Chicago (1986). He completed his post graduate medical training at Yale-New Haven Hospital in Radiation Oncology and performed his postdoctoral research at Yale University School of Medicine in the Department of Genetics. After his postdoctoral research, he joined the Thomas Jefferson Medical College and the Kimmel Cancer Center as an Assistant Professor responsible for both treating breast cancer patients and supervision of a laboratory program (1997-2001). He remains licensed to practice medicine in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
