Drew was born in Northwest Indiana, grew up in Winter Park, Florida, and now resides in Campton Hills with his wife and son. He was formerly a Senior Director of Strategic Initiatives and Team Leader for the Boy Scouts of America National Foundation, where he facilitated the recruitment and support of their sixty-member National STEM Advisory Committee, raising over $30M for program support. Drew led the development of key national partnerships for the BSA, including Code.org, Maker Media/Maker Faire, NASA, The Center for the Advancement of Science in Space, Cognizant Innovation/Maker programs, Tata Consultancy Services goIT Digital Fluency, Magnitude.io Micro Satellite, Parametric Studios Virtual Design, and Dell/Lockheed Martin Virtual Reality experiences. Drew served as a facilitator, panelist, or contributor for many national workforce development initiatives, including the National Academy of Sciences Advanced Manufacturing Task Force, STEMconnector Digital Fluency and STEM 2.0 studies, the National Association for Community College Entrepreneurship Annual Conference, and National Science Foundation Engineering Centers.

Prior to the BSA, Drew served as the CEO of Turning Pointe Autism Foundation in Naperville, leading the development, operations, and management of multi-site campuses for children and adults with autism to provide educational, vocational, recreational, and residential opportunities. He led the development of vocational training partnerships with Walgreens and Office Max, including employee volunteer engagement, annual financial support, and the construction of mock training spaces at the school.
