Joshua Hajicek

Scientist - Auditory Signal Processing Lab at Boys Town National Research Hospital

Joshua Hajicek, Ph.D. has a diverse work experience in the field of auditory signal processing, hearing science, and cochlear mechanics. Currently, they work as a Scientist in the Auditory Signal Processing Lab at Boys Town National Research Hospital. Prior to this, they held the position of Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of Michigan from 2018 to 2023.

Dr. Hajicek's career began at Hunter College, Biopsychology in 2004 as an Engineer. Joshua also worked as an Engineer at Research Foundation, Audiological Engineering Corp., and Signal Craft R & D. From 2005 to 2008, they served as a Research Engineer at NYU School of Medicine.

In 2008, Dr. Hajicek joined Li Creative Technologies, Inc. where they held the roles of Principal Investigator, Project Manager, and Research Engineer. Joshua led research in various aspects of hearing and acoustics while also being involved in technology product development and marketing.

From 2010 to 2012, Dr. Hajicek worked as a Project and Product Manager at Mimosa Acoustics, Inc., where they focused on transitioning research in hearing science and cochlear mechanics into clinically relevant technologies.

In 2011, they became a Doctoral Student in Hearing Science at City University of New York, The Graduate Center, where they pursued their doctorate under the guidance of Dr. Glenis Long. During this time, they also served as a Project Manager. Their research interests included noise-induced hearing loss and early detection.

Overall, Dr. Joshua Hajicek has gained extensive experience in research, project management, and product development within the field of auditory science and cochlear mechanics.

Joshua Hajicek, Ph.D. obtained their Ph.D. in Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences, with a specialization in cochlear mechanics, from The Graduate Center, City University of New York. Joshua pursued this degree from 2011 to 2018. Prior to that, they earned a Master of Science in Electronics Engineering/Technology Management from Stevens Institute of Technology, which they obtained from 2002 to 2004.
