Mark Dernis, C.E.T. has several years of experience in the field of building automation systems and HVAC control. Mark started their career as a volunteer at Dascan Industrial Controls in 2016 before becoming an Automation Lab Technician at George Brown College. In 2017, they joined Mircom Engineered Systems as a Building Automation Systems Technician, where they were responsible for the development, implementation, and troubleshooting of HVAC control systems. In 2018, they moved to ESC Automation in the role of Building Automation Systems Technician, where they further developed their skills in building automation systems, start-up, commissioning, and control systems programming. Currently, they are working at BrainBox AI, starting as an AI Controls Engineer HVAC Automation and then transitioning to the role of AI Controls Engineering Team Lead HVAC Automation in 2023.

Mark Dernis, C.E.T., has a background in Electromechanical Engineering Technology - Building Automation. Mark attended George Brown College, although the specific dates of their education are not provided.

In addition to their college education, Mark has obtained several certifications and completed various training programs. Mark is a Certified Engineering Technologist (CET) through the Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists (OACETT). Mark obtained this certification in January 2022.

Mark also received certifications in Security Awareness Training from KnowBe4 in January 2022, and Cybersecurity Awareness Training from ESET North America in May 2021. Furthermore, they became a Certified Technician through OACETT in July 2021 and an Associate Member of OACETT in February 2021.

Mark has completed multiple training programs offered by ESC Automation. In August 2019, they completed the PG102 - Advanced GCL+ training and in July 2019, they completed the F164: GCL+ Programming training. Earlier, in November 2018, they completed the enteliWEB Training, and in July 2018, they completed the F-180: Delta Hardware Applications and Controllers training.
