Ralph Kern

Dr. Ralph Kern is the Chief Operating Officer and Chief Medical Officer at Brainstorm Cell Therapeutics. Ralph is a medical doctor with over 20 years of experience in the pharmaceutical and biotech industries.

Dr. Kern began their career as a Global Medical Director at Sanofi Genzyme, where they oversaw the development of personalized genetic health care products. Ralph then moved to Novartis, where they served as Vice President and Head of the Neuroscience Medical Unit. In this role, they were responsible for developing and executing the medical strategy for the treatment of neurological diseases such as Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, and multiple sclerosis.

Most recently, Dr. Kern was Senior Vice President and Head of Worldwide Medical at Biogen, where they oversaw all therapeutic areas, corporate medical governance, regional medical activities, and global medical operations. In this role, they were instrumental in developing the medical strategy for Biogen’s Alzheimer’s disease, multiple sclerosis, and spinal muscular atrophy programs.

Dr. Kern is a graduate of Harvard Medical School and has been board certified in internal medicine and neurology. Ralph is a member of the American Academy of Neurology and the American College of Physicians.

Ralph Kern completed a BSc in Neurophysiology at McGill University before going on to complete an MD at Queen's University. Ralph then undertook a Neurology residency at the University of London, followed by an Internal Medicine residency at the University of Toronto. Ralph is currently a Research Fellow in Neuroscience at the Hospital for Sick Children, where they study Pediatric Epilepsy.

They are on a team with Yael Gothelf - Vp Scientific And Regulatory Affairs, Yossef Levy - VP Cell Production, and Mary Kay Turner - VP of Patient Advocacy and Government Affairs. Ralph Kern reports to Chaim Lebovits, President & CEO.
