Owen Smith

Owen Smith has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries. Owen started their career as a Sales Assistant at John Lewis while they were a student. Owen then worked as an HR and Training Manager/Assistant Manager at McDonald's for four years before joining Tesco Stores Ltd as a Personnel Manager/Training Manager, where they worked for five years. Owen then became a Learning & Development Partner at BHS, where they designed, delivered, and managed learning solutions for retail operations.

In 2011, Owen joined Burberry as a Talent Manager, Corporate & EMEIA, and later took on the role of Talent, Learning & Development Manager for Europe, Middle East, India, and Africa. Owen was responsible for driving retail store productivity, training, and sales and service standards in the region. Owen also played a crucial role in coordinating and supporting the delivery of training programs, including the Burberry Experience training and Product Knowledge training. Owen ensured the materials were locally appropriate and translated correctly for the region.

Currently, Owen is working at Brambles as the Digital Culture & Capability Lead. Prior to this role, they served as the Director of Talent & Learning, Europe and as a Senior Manager in Global Talent Management, showcasing their expertise in talent development and learning strategies.

Owen Smith completed their BA in French at The University of Sheffield from 1994 to 1999. Prior to that, they attended Haileybury College from 1986 to 1994, where they pursued A levels in English, French, History, and General Studies. Apart from their formal education, Owen also obtained several certifications, including "Supporting Your Mental Health While Working from Home" from LinkedIn and the "ILM 7 Certificate in Executive Coaching" from TPC Leadership in September and October 2020, respectively.
