Brazos Electric Power Cooperative
Michael Starks is an experienced mechanic with a career spanning over two decades in various industrial settings. Currently, Michael has been employed at Brazos Electric Power Cooperative since October 2003, specializing as a mechanic at a power plant. Prior to this role, Michael worked at MillerCoors from May 2000 to October 2003 as a Power House Mechanic, where responsibilities included operating, inspecting, and maintaining a wide range of machinery. Michael's experience also includes a position at Johns Manville as a Production Mechanic, focusing on preventative maintenance and system upgrades for fiberglass manufacturing equipment. Michael served in the US Navy from May 1984 to November 1995 as an MM1(SS), gaining nuclear mechanic expertise aboard submarines and as a reactor plant supervisor. Brazos Electric is a 3,839 megawatt generation and transmission cooperative whose members' service territory extends across 68 counties from the Texas Panhandle to Houston. Organized in 1941, Brazos Electric was the first cooperative formed in the Lone Star state for the purpose of generating and supplying electrical power. Today, it is the largest generation and transmission cooperative in Texas. Brazos Electric is the wholesale power supplier for its 16 member-owner distribution cooperatives and one municipal system. Owned by its member cooperatives, Brazos Electric board of directors is comprised of one representative from each of our 16 members.
