Deputy Director Of Organizing And Faith Engagement at Bread for the World

Cheri Andes has a vast and extensive work experience that spans over several organizations and roles. Cheri is currently the Deputy Director of Organizing and Faith Engagement at Bread for the World, a position they have held since January 2023. Before that, Cheri worked as a Senior Organizer at the same organization from October 2021 to January 2023.

Prior to their time at Bread for the World, Cheri served as the Director of Grief Support Services at Samaritans, Inc. from January 2019 to June 2021. Cheri also worked as the Executive Director at NAMI Massachusetts from November 2017 to September 2018.

Cheri's career includes a role as the Director of Organizing Strategy at Leadership for Educational Equity from July 2015 to November 2017 and as an Independent Consultant at Andes Consulting from November 2014 to November 2017.

Before that, Cheri had a long tenure at the Greater Boston Interfaith Organization (GBIO), where they held the positions of Executive Director & Lead Organizer from 2004 to 2013 and Organizer from 1999 to 2004. Cheri also worked as an Organizer at United Power For Action & Justice from 1994 to 1999 and as a Lead Organizer at Brockton Interfaith Community from 1991 to 1994.

Cheri Andes holds a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in English with Honors, which they obtained from Bucknell University between 1983 and 1987. Afterward, from 1989 to 1994, they pursued a Master of Arts (M.A.) in Pastoral Ministry with a focus on Social Justice & Religious Education at the Boston College - Institute for Religious Education & Pastoral Ministry.
