Ani Kame’enui

Director, Strategic Initiatives, U.S. Policy & Advocacy at Breakthrough Energy

Ani’s role in the U.S. Policy and Advocacy team capitalizes on her over 15 years of climate, conservation, and advocacy campaign experience and allows her to ensure Breakthrough Energy is strategically engaged in both short-term policy opportunities, while maintaining a vision for long-term initiatives aimed at getting to net-zero by 2050.

Ani is trained as a Geologist (BA from Carleton College) and Water Resources Engineer (MS from the University of Washington) and used a passion of natural resource science to inform strong policy advocacy in the PNW and Washington, DC. Before coming to Breakthrough Energy, Ani was last at the bipartisan National Parks Conservation Association as a Deputy Vice President in Government Affairs managing their park protection policy portfolio. When she’s not amping up BE campaigns, Ani is often found on the trails or slopes of the NW, leading, or chasing her two boys to the perfect mountain view, and wondering if she’ll ever finish another fiction novel again.
