Andrea C. Birch is dean of the Brenau University College of Fine Arts & Humanities, a position she has held since 1999. She oversees six academic departments, the Honors program and the Brenau University Galleries. She helped develop the “Four Portals of Learning” liberal education curriculum and the Associate of Arts in liberal studies track, a core component of the university’s Adult and Graduate Studies program. Today, the college offers 19 degree programs, including an Master of Fine Arts in interior design and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in musical theater. Prior to coming to Brenau, she taught at the American University in Bulgaria, was the assistant provost and chair of the Department of Philosophy at Saint Mary’s University in Minnesota and headed the career development and training branch at the Navy Operational Intelligence Center in Washington D.C. She holds a Ph.D. and master’s degree in philosophy from the Catholic University of America and a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Trinity College.
