Michael Thomson

Michael Thomson has extensive work experience in the chemical industry, with a focus on managing director and leadership roles. Michael most recently served as the President of Africa Specialties at Brenntag starting in June 2023. Prior to that, they held roles as President of Africa and Managing Director of Africa at Brenntag. Before joining Brenntag, Michael served as the Managing Director DACH (Germany, Austria, Switzerland) at Azelis from 2011 to 2014. Michael also worked at IMCD Group as Director of Business Development Africa & Middle East and as Managing Director from 2002 to 2011. Earlier in their career, they held managing director roles at Solvadis Commodity Chemicals GmbH and Chemie Mineralien GmbH. Michael started their career at ECC International, later known as Imerys, where they served as the International Sales Manager Coatings. Michael also worked at Solvay as the Divison Manager for Chlorinated Products.

Michael Thomson attended Universität des Saarlandes from 1981 to 1987, where they earned a degree in Diplom Kaufmann. Their studies focused on Wirtschaftswissenschaften, Marketing, Handel, and Gesellschaftsrecht.
