Michael J. Boonstra

Michael J. Boonstra has extensive experience in library services and archival management, currently serving as the Training Coordinator for the Brevard County Government since 2002, after roles as Librarian II and Archivist for the Brevard County Historical Commission. Notable achievements include the integration of a genealogy collection from Brevard Community College, creating the largest facility for genealogical and historical research in the county, and coordinating the merger of the Brevard Historical Commission with the Brevard County Library System. Prior to joining the county government, Michael Boonstra held the position of Director of the Genealogy/Family History Department and College Archivist at Brevard Community College, where the development of one of the few Genealogy/Family History departments at a community college in the United States was undertaken. Michael Boonstra holds a Master of Arts in Humanities from California State University and a Bachelor of Arts in International Studies from American University.
