James Hicks

Director at Bridges Fund Management

James is a Director in the Impact Management team, and implements Bridges’ impact strategy and develops its impact management practice across all funds.

He joined Bridges from the Impact Management Project, an ambitious sector-wide initiative to build market consensus on sustainability and impact management. At the IMP, James worked with leading sustainability standard-setting organisations – the IMP Structured Network – on a range of initiatives aiming to simplify the landscape of standards and guidance for practitioners. He also regularly engaged with investors who were interested to learn about, and apply, IMP’s early work on dimensions of impact and strategies for investor contribution.

James joined the IMP through the On Purpose Associate Programme, a leadership and career transition programme for mid-career professionals interested in social and environmental impact. Prior to this, he worked in asset management at M&G Investments, where he specialised in private equity and worked on a team investing in mid-market buyout funds. He was involved in all stages of the investment process and travelled extensively to conduct due diligence on funds primarily in Europe and Asia.

James holds a first-class BA (Hons) in Economics from Durham University.
