Josh McWilliam

Co-Founder & VP of Product at Bright Hub

Josh McWilliam has worked in the technology industry since 1997. Josh began their career as a Systems Administrator at Robert C. Dempsey Insurance, followed by a Web Developer role at IA Systems. In 2000, they moved to OneMade as a Senior Software Engineer. In 2001, they co-founded FastMods.com, where they served as CTO and was responsible for the technical infrastructure to receive, bill and process orders. In 2003, they joined America Online as a Senior Software Engineer, responsible for search, localization and AIM integration for the AOL Classifieds system. In 2004, they co-founded iBelong Networks, where they oversaw the development of the initial platform, including the KaBOOM site. In 2006, they co-founded Flatburger, Inc., providing software encryption and licensing technology. In 2007, they joined Bright Hub, Inc. as Co-Founder and VP of Product, leading the product development efforts. Finally, in 2012, they co-founded College Factual, a data journalism site providing parents and students with information to make great decisions.

Josh McWilliam's education history includes a Regents Diploma from Groton Central School from 1994 to 1998, a Computer Systems Engineering degree from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute from 1998 to 2003, and a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Economics from University at Albany, SUNY from 2010 to 2012. Additionally, Josh has obtained seven certifications from Coursera and its Verified Certificates program, including Google Cloud Platform Big Data and Machine Learning Fundamentals in May 2017, Developing Innovative Ideas for New Companies: The First Step in Entrepreneurship in January 2015, Analyzing Global Trends for Business and Society in December 2014, International Organizations Management in December 2014, An Introduction to Marketing in December 2013, Law and the Entrepreneur in December 2013, and Social Network Analysis in December 2013.
