Michal Maly

Michal Maly has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and industries. Michal is currently employed as the Director of AI at Brightpick since 2022. Prior to this, they held the same position at Photoneo starting in 2017. Before transitioning into the field of AI, Michal worked at AT&T Global Services as a Senior System Admin Engineer, where they focused on maintaining operating systems and ensuring data integrity from 2012 to 2013.

Michal's career began in academia, as a PhD student at Comenius University in Bratislava, where they conducted research on cognition, reinforcement learning, and natural language processing. Their research interests also included security. Michal completed their rigorous thesis on Natural Language Processing with Application to Slovak Language and their dissertation on Reinforcement Learning with Abstraction.

Before pursuing their PhD, Michal gained professional experience as an IT Security specialist and an informatik at Slovenská sporiteľňa, a.s. from 2006 to 2009. Michal also worked as a computer network administrator at SDJLS, Univerzita Komenského from 2005 to 2006, and as an application developer at Microstep-HDO from 2003 to 2005.

Michal Maly pursued their education from 2002 to 2007, earning an MSc. (Mgr.) degree in informatics from Univerzita Komenského v Bratislave. In 2006, they participated in an Erasmus program at Universidade Nova de Lisboa, studying computer science. Michal continued their studies at Univerzita Komenského v Bratislave, completing a PhD. degree in artificial intelligence from 2008 to 2012.
