Sungwon Lee

Sungwon Lee has a diverse work experience spanning several companies and positions. Starting in 1999, Lee worked as a Research Assistant at the University of Iowa before becoming a Post-doctoral Fellow at the University of Utah in 2003. From 2007 to 2009, Lee served as a Research Associate at the University of Utah before transitioning to industry roles. In 2009, Lee joined LS9, Inc. as a Scientist I in the Biochemistry Group, eventually becoming a Scientist II in the Biocatalyst Evaluation and Screening Development Group. Lee then moved on to Calysta, where they held various leadership positions, including Senior Scientist and Group Leader in Bioanalytical Chemistry, Director of Analytical Science, and Senior Director of Analytical Science. Lee also worked at ZymoChem as the Senior Director of Analytics before joining Brightseed in 2022 as the Senior Director of Analytical Chemistry.

Sungwon Lee holds a Ph.D. degree in Medicinal and Natural Products Chemistry from the University of Iowa. Prior to their Ph.D., they obtained a Master's degree in Pharmaceutical Chemistry from Yeungnam University. Sungwon also completed their Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry at Yeungnam University.
