Hossam Yahia

Hossam Yahia is the chief Technical Officer for embedded systems in Brightskies. He has a total of 14 years of professional experience, most of them in Automotive software development. He co-founded the embedded systems service line in Brightskies by beginning of 2016 with special focus on Automotive market and the functional safety services.

Prior to this, Hossam worked as a functional safety expert in Valeo since 2012, where he led the deployment activities of ISO26262 in both product lines GEEDS and CDV and worked as a coach for functional safety for different development and testing teams. He also initiated the Software safety service line in Valeo Egypt.

Hossam led the software team of CIE in Valeo Egypt in the period from 2006 until 2011 where he led development and testing activities for Body controllers and Interior Electronic systems for both AUTOSAR-based and Non-AUTOSAR systems.

Before Joining Valeo, Hossam worked for the National Authority for Remote Sensing and Space Sciences where he participated in the development and modeling of remote sensing satellite on-board navigation systems in the period 2004 to 2006.

Born in 1981 in Cairo, Hossam got his Bachelor of Engineering in Electronics and Electrical Communications from Cairo University in 2003. and got his Master of Science degree in Communications and Information Technology –Software Engineering from Nile University in 2014 with special focus on software safety analyses.

Hossam authored six conference publications and gave two public speeches in international events about software safety. He is a Technical reviewer for safety critical systems at the US Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE)world congress event since 2012. In addition, he is a worldwide trainer for functional safety in Egypt, France, Germany, USA, Ireland, Hungary, and Czech Republic.

His experience in automotive systems development and analysis include ADAS systems covering sensor development like Laser, Radar, Cameras, and feature development like ACC, AEB, Highway Assist, Automatic Parking and Surrounding Vision systems. He has also has experiences in high integrity Interior Electronic Systems and Electric Vehicle up to ASIL D.
