John Wilson Ph.D

R&D Engineer at BrightView Technologies

John Wilson, Ph.D has extensive experience in the field of optical engineering. John started their career as a Postdoctoral Fellow at Duke University Medical Center, where they worked in the Department of Radiology from October 2003 to April 2006. John then joined Bright View Technologies as a Product Development Engineer from April 2006 to August 2009, where they were responsible for managing the development of key products for the display industry.

After that, John worked at Semprius as a Senior Engineer from September 2009 to June 2015. During their time there, they ran the optical test lab and played a crucial role in developing ultra-high concentration solar cells and modules with record efficiencies. John also designed and built a 4-laser tool for measuring sub-millimeter solar cell efficiency, which was the first of its kind in the world.

Currently, John is employed at BrightView Technologies as an R&D Engineer starting from October 2016. In this role, they design microstructure optical films for the lighting industry, specifically focusing on improving the performance and aesthetics of LED lighting fixtures.

John Wilson Ph.D completed their education with a Bachelor of Science in Physics from North Carolina State University, where they studied from 1993 to 1997. John then pursued their Ph.D in Physics (Optical / Atomic) at Stony Brook University from 1997 to 2003. No further information about their education history is provided.
