Erik van der Boom has had a diverse work experience in various roles. Erik started their career as a Verkoopmedewerker at Makro in 2002 and later worked as a Trainee at IBM in 2008. In 2009, they worked as a Technisch project medewerker at FocusCura and also served as the Penningmeester at Studievereniging Careless. Erik then joined Hogeschool Rotterdam as a Student and later became a Peer Coach. At ChipSoft, they held multiple roles including Software ontwikkelaar, Software Consultant, and Stagair Implementatie & Support. Erik worked on the PACS (Picture Archiving and Comunication System) and was responsible for implementing and supporting modules at radiology and emergency departments. Erik also spent some time at Conclusion Application Innovation as a Dotnet Developer and at Cavero as a Developer. Currently, they are working as a .NET Developer at Brisker Group.

Erik van der Boom has a diverse education history. Erik first attended Alfrink College from 1995 to 2001, where they obtained their VWO degree. Erik then pursued a Bachelor's Degree in Healthcare Technology at Rotterdam University of Applied Sciences from 2007 to 2010. Prior to that, from 2001 to 2007, they attended Delft University of Technology, where they earned an Msc in Aerospace Engineering.

In addition to their formal education, Erik has also obtained various certifications. In March 2020, they became Microsoft Certified: Azure Fundamentals. Erik further enhanced their skills by becoming a Professional Scrum Developer™ I (PSD I) through Scrum.org in November 2022. Erik also holds the title of Scrum Master Certified (SMC), which they obtained from Scrum.org in January 2020. Furthermore, Erik has achieved the CompTIA CTT+ Classroom Trainer Certification from CompTIA in November 2022, along with being a Microsoft Certified Trainer from December 2022 to 2023. Lastly, they recently became Microsoft Certified: Azure Developer Associate in November 2022.
