This is a fully remote based role, however candidates must be located in the US.

Summary

BriteCore is seeking an experienced, hands-on Director of Cloud Engineering to lead the transformation and advancement of our enterprise AWS platform. You will spearhead critical projects to deliver a top-tier SaaS offering, focusing on developing and optimizing our cloud infrastructure. Day-to-day, you will be actively involved in technical tasks while managing a growing team of Cloud Engineers. This position is ideal for someone with a proven track record in leading teams, managing complex brownfield cloud platforms, and driving strategic growth.

What you’ll do 

  • Lead the design, deployment, and management of scalable and secure cloud infrastructure on AWS, while actively participating in hands-on technical work

  • Provide AWS Cloud Services expertise through high-level consultation and documentation to support compliance and development

  • Architect, develop, test, document, and support BriteCore’s DevOps tooling, including deployment applications, patch management, configuration management, observability, access systems, and operations automation

  • Implement and oversee CI/CD pipelines to automate the deployment and scaling of applications

  • Continuously monitor, analyze, and optimize cloud infrastructure performance to ensure high availability, reliability, and scalability

  • Develop and enforce robust security policies and procedures to protect cloud resources and data

  • Proactively troubleshoot and resolve complex cloud infrastructure issues, providing expert support to development and operations teams

  • Create and maintain reusable/scalable GitHub actions modules to facilitate CI/CD best practices and streamline development workflows

  • Design and maintain Terraform modules for both specific internal customer-driven solutions and reusable cloud team-driven modules

  • Manage and mentor a team of Cloud Engineers, fostering professional growth and collaboration

What you’ll bring

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field

  • 15+ years of experience in cloud engineering, with a strong focus on AWS

  • 8+ years of proven expertise in designing, deploying, and managing scalable cloud infrastructure

  • 7+ years of experience with UNIX and Python

  • 5+ years of experience working at a hypergrowth startup

  • 5+ years of experience in scripting languages such as Bash or PowerShell

  • 3+ years of experience managing a cloud engineering team

  • 3+ years of experience with automation platforms such as SaltProject, Ansible, or Chef, to design and support automated workflows and processes

  • 2+ years of experience working with Datadog

  • Deep understanding of AWS network architecture, security, and compliance

  • Expertise in creating technology roadmaps and selecting tools to drive company growth

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Scrappy, determined, and energetic attitude, comfortable working in a fast-paced startup environment and learning as you go

Bonus points

  • Experience in configuring and deploying orchestration tools like Kubernetes

  • Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools like AWS CloudFormation or Terraform

  • Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools like Jenkins, GitLab CI, or AWS CodePipeline
