Dan van der Schans is an accomplished economist with extensive experience in analyzing small business finance markets, particularly in venture capital and private debt. Currently serving as a Senior Manager in the Economics Team at British Business Bank since October 2013, Dan has led significant evaluations of finance schemes and managed key research projects, including the SME Journey towards raising finance survey. Previous roles include Senior Analyst at Capital for Enterprise and Economic Advisor at the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills, where Dan authored critical papers on SME access to finance and managed various research initiatives. Dan began their career as an Assistant Economist at the Department for Work and Pensions, focusing on labour market programme analysis. Dan holds a Master's degree in Economics from the University of Leeds and a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Economics from the University of Warwick.
