Stephen Welton

Stephen Welton CBE is a seasoned financial leader with extensive experience in supporting UK growth companies and enhancing financial markets. Currently serving as a Strategic Adviser at Singer Capital Markets and Chair of the British Business Bank, Stephen contributes to the financing of approximately £13bn for around 100,000 businesses. As a Non-Executive Director of Intermediate Capital Group (ICG) and former Chairman of BGF, Stephen has significantly influenced the investment landscape, having founded BGF in 2011 to support equity capital investment in growth companies. Stephen's philanthropic efforts include founding the BGF Foundation, which promotes flexible financial support for small and mid-sized charities. Additionally, Stephen has held various advisory and panel roles, including membership in the Prime Minister's Build Back Better Business Council and Innovate UK Council. Stephen holds a BA Hons Dunelm in Law from Durham University and a Barrister-at-Law qualification from the Inns of Court School of Law.
