Darren Beriro

Principal Geoscientist at British Geological Survey

Darren Beriro is a highly experienced geoscientist with a focus on soil contaminants, human exposure, and bioaccessibility. Currently serving as Principal Geoscientist at the British Geological Survey since October 2013, Darren's work includes risk-based land management and collaboration within the Centre for Environmental Geochemistry. As Chair of the National Brownfield Forum since April 2024, Darren also holds the position of Honorary Industrial Fellow at the University of Nottingham, enhancing knowledge exchange on potentially harmful chemicals in soil. Previous roles include Knowledge Exchange Fellow at the Natural Environment Research Council and Visiting Researcher at Université de Lorraine. With a PhD in Land Contamination and Bioaccessibility from the University of Nottingham, Darren's extensive background includes consultancy positions where responsibilities encompassed site investigations, risk assessments, and remediation strategies.
