Mike Walkden

Mike Walkden is a highly experienced technical director with a strong background in coastal engineering and research. Currently serving as Technical Director at Moffatt & Nichol since November 2022 and as a Visiting Researcher at the British Geological Survey since December 2022, Walkden previously held the position of Technical Director at WSP Global from February 2014 to November 2022. Walkden's prior roles include Senior Coastal Engineer at Royal Haskoning, Research Fellow at the University of Newcastle Upon Tyne, and Post-doctoral researcher at the University of Bristol. Walkden has also contributed as a Coastal Engineer at Halcrow and held research associate positions at The University of Edinburgh and Queen's University Belfast. Walkden began academic pursuits as a PhD student/technician at Plymouth University, where the educational journey culminated in a Doctor of Philosophy focusing on wave loading on coastal structures, complemented by a Bachelor of Engineering in Civil Engineering from the same institution.
