James Leiper

Associate Medical Director - Research at British Heart Foundation

James Leiper has a diverse work experience in the field of molecular medicine. James started their career as a Reader in Molecular Medicine at University College London in 1997. James then moved to the Clinical Sciences Centre MRC UK in 2009, where they served as a Programme Leader until 2017. During this time, they also held a position as a Visiting Reader at Imperial College London from 2009 to 2016. In 2017, they became a Professor of Molecular Medicine at both Imperial College London and the Institute of Cardiovascular and Medical Sciences at the University of Glasgow. In 2020, they joined the British Heart Foundation as an Associate Medical Director - Research. Additionally, in 2017, Leiper founded Critical Pressure Ltd and served as the Founding Director and Chief Scientific Officer.

James Leiper obtained a BSc in Biological Sciences from the University of Exeter in 1990. James then went on to pursue a PhD in Biochemistry at the Royal Postgraduate Medical School, University of London, from 1990 to 2004.
