Monica Pomes, MBA has a diverse work experience spanning over two decades. Monica currently holds the position of Head of Financial Planning and Analysis at British International Investment (BII), a development finance institution and impact investor. Prior to this role, they served as the Interim Head of Financial Planning and Analysis at BII, where they successfully partnered with over 1,000 enterprises in Africa, Asia, and the Caribbean to help them succeed and grow impactful businesses.
Before joining BII, Monica worked as a Venture Fellow at the Newton Venture Program, a selective investor training and development program that aims to make the venture ecosystem more diverse, inclusive, and accessible. Monica gained valuable experience in the finance industry during their time at Wells Fargo, where they held the position of Finance Manager, Vice President for a decade.
Monica's career began at Liberty International Plc as a Group Accountant, where they honed their skills in financial management. Monica then transitioned to Barclays as a Group Reporting Accountant before moving to Credit Suisse as a Financial Reporting Accountant. Monica'sexpertise was further strengthened when they served as a Financial Controller at Nomura.

Monica Pomes, MBA, has a diverse education history. In 1995, they attended Glamorgan University and received a BA (Hons) in Business Studies. Continuing their educational journey, Monica became a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) in 2003. In 2018, they completed the Executive Master of Business Administration program at Cranfield University. Additionally, Monica obtained the Chartered Manager CMgr FCMI qualification from the Chartered Management Institute in 2020. Later that year, they also completed the Senior Leader (Level 7) program at the Institute for Apprenticeships and Technical Education. Most recently, in 2022, Monica participated in the Newton Venture Program at the London Business School, focusing on Investments and Securities.
