Sachio Semmoto, PhD began his career at Nippon Telephone & Telegraph (NTT) and developed the first optical fiber system in Japan leading to the world’s first digital service (ISDN). He joined Kyocera and co-founded DDI, growing sales to US$5B in seven years and creating KDDI. He then founded and was CEO of eAccess Ltd., a leading broadband IP operator, which IPOed in record time. He founded EMOBILE (now Softbank subsidiary YMobile) and served as CEO and Chairman. He is currently chairman of Renova Inc., a renewable energy company. Dr. Semmoto was a professor of entrepreneurship at Keio University, a visiting professor at the University of California – Berkeley and Carnegie Mellon University, and a lecturer at Harvard, Stanford, Northwestern and Cambridge Universities. He served as a board member of Network Appliance Inc. (NetApp Inc.), Founders Share Company in London, Salzburg Global Seminar, and Telecom Corp. of New Zealand, and as a trustee of the Tokyo Foundation. Dr. Semmoto earned his BS from Kyoto University, and MS and PhD from the University of Florida.
