Simon Kerr

Simon Kerr has a diverse work experience in the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries. Simon is currently serving as the Chair and COO at Broken String Biosciences Ltd since September 2020. Prior to that, Simon worked at KerrConsult Ltd., providing commercial consultancy services in biotechnology since July 2013. Their clients included companies like Atlantic Healthcare plc, Cypralis Ltd, and Ieso Digital Health, among others.

Simon also served as the CEO of Cypralis Ltd from January 2016 to April 2019. Cypralis focuses on the discovery and development of cyclophilin inhibitors for various diseases. Simon aimed to develop these inhibitors for acute diseases and establish R&D partnerships for chronic conditions.

Before Cypralis, Simon worked at Imperial Innovations as the Director Healthcare Ventures from 2008 to 2013. Simon was responsible for identifying investment opportunities, leading due diligence, and completing syndicated investments in healthcare companies.

Simon's experience also includes their role as Commercial Director at CeNeS Pharma from 2003 to 2008. Simon played a key role in acquiring GlaxoSmithKline's IV sedative/anaesthetic program and negotiating licensing deals with various companies.

In addition, Simon served as the CEO of Circassia Ltd, where they raised initial funding, completed an acquisition by PowderJect Pharmaceuticals, and led the company's spin-out in 2004. Circassia achieved a successful IPO in 2014.

Earlier in their career, Simon was the CEO of Cambridge Genetics Ltd, where they successfully raised funding, acquired Cambridge Drug Discovery, and completed major deals with Mayo Clinic and Millennium Pharmaceuticals. Simon also served as the CEO of Gemini Genomics and Managing Director of Efamol Ltd at Scotia Pharmaceuticals.

Simon's professional journey began as a consultant at Medeva.

Simon Kerr attended the London Business School from 1991 to 1992, where they completed the Sloan Fellowship MSc program. The field of study for their degree is not specified.
