Debbie Tysoe was part of the final cohort of Finance Management Trainees employed by British Rail. A key element of this was sponsorship through the Chartered Association of Certified Accounts qualification. Alongside this were regular management training courses including the invaluable Track Side Safety Course.
Completion of this coincided with the privatization of the railways and so at this point, Debbie seized the opportunity to move into local government where she was part of the finance team at Wellingborough Borough Council. The work here involved preparing and presenting management account reports to the relevant committees. In order to complete these, she needed to work closely with the Heads of Service in order to monitor and control the budgets.
In 1999 she moved to the position of Finance Manager at Brooke Weston CTC. Here she controlled the finances bringing a deficit budget into surplus over the first couple of years. Over the years she has managed to form close working relationships with the finance team at the relevant government department. Her experience with CTC/Academy finances is difficult to match.
As the Trust has grown so has Debbie’s role. She now controls all aspects of finance for all Trust schools. This proves an exciting challenge, especially in the current economic climate.
