Brookhaven National Laboratory
Chuck Schaefer, CHP, CSSBB, is an experienced Health Physicist at Brookhaven National Laboratory since April 1995, focusing on radioactive material sampling, high-energy accelerator oversight, assessment performance, and leading lean six sigma process improvement projects. Previously, Schaefer served as a Calibration Assessor at the American Association for Laboratory Accreditation (A2LA) from 2012 to 2015, evaluating compliance with ISO 17025 standards, and worked as a Radiochemist at General Engineering Laboratories in 1992-1993, where Schaefer conducted radiochemical analyses. Early experience includes service as a Naval Nuclear Propulsion Officer in the US Navy from 1985 to 1991 on a ballistic missile submarine. Academic qualifications include a Master's degree in Health/Medical Physics from the University of Florida (1993-1994) and a Bachelor's degree in Physics from Stony Brook University (1982-1986).
