Frederic Micolon

Frederic Micolon is a highly experienced mechanical engineer currently serving as the Deputy Group Leader for Mechanical Engineering at Brookhaven National Laboratory, focusing on the Electron-Ion Collider (EIC) project. Responsibilities include overseeing a growing team and delivering the design of the Hadron Storage Ring while previously managing various systems related to superconducting magnets, cryogenics, vacuum systems, and beam instrumentation. Micolon has held engineering roles at CERN, specializing in particle accelerator alignment systems and superconducting magnet cryostats for the High Luminosity LHC project. Additional experience includes R&D engineering for evaporative heat exchangers and co-founding the startup Caeli Energie, aimed at developing low-energy air cooling systems. Micolon holds advanced degrees in mechanical engineering and materials science from INSA Rouen Normandie and Cranfield University, with supplementary education in particle accelerator technology from prestigious institutions.
