Lydia Shields

Lydia Shields is an experienced professional currently serving as a Graduate Research Assistant at the University of Minnesota since January 2024 and as a Community Health Specialist at Brooklyn Center Community Schools since August 2022. Lydia has a strong background in healthcare, having worked as a Lead Technician at Biolife Plasma Services from September 2017 to September 2022, where responsibilities included venipuncture, team management, donor screening, and training. Lydia's academic credentials include a Master of Public Health from the University of Minnesota (2020-2022), a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology with a minor in Psychology from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire (2013-2017), and ongoing studies for a Doctor of Philosophy in Nutrition Sciences at the University of Minnesota. Additionally, Lydia contributed to research projects at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire under the guidance of Dr. Daniel Herman.
