Kate Mirand Calleri

Director of Education at Brooklyn Children's Museum

Kate Mirand Calleri is the Director of Education at the Brooklyn Children’s Museum. She oversees all school, camp, art and outreach programming, as well as dynamic engagement with the museum’s living animal collection and its encyclopedic collection of 30,000 cultural objects and natural science specimens. Kate leads the education team in creating content, teaching, professional development, living animal care and curriculum development. She directs the Teen Curators Program as well as all Museum-on-the-Go for Pre-K collection object-based outreach programing.

From her background as a teaching artist, curator, and neurodivergent person, she brings an interdisciplinary and intersectional approach to her work in education, understanding and using art and objects to encourage inquiry, curiosity, and community engagement. Kate has an MFA in photography from the University of Illinois at Chicago.
