Staff Attorney - Criminal Defense Practice at Brooklyn Defender Services

Emma Sherry is a Staff Attorney in the Criminal Defense Practice at Brooklyn Defenders since September 2023. Prior experience includes serving as the Client Engagement Director, Student Attorney, and Outreach Director for Harvard Defenders from January 2021 to May 2023. Emma has also held roles as a Research Assistant for Professor Andrew Crespo at Harvard Law School, a Student Attorney at the Criminal Justice Institute, and an Appellate Section Legal Intern at the New Jersey Office of the Public Defender. Additional experience includes clerking for the Promise of Justice Initiative, working as a Student Attorney in the LGBTQ+ Advocacy Clinic, and being a Teaching Fellow and Research Assistant for Professor Intisar Rabb at Harvard Law School. Previous internships include a Legal Intern position with the American Civil Liberties Union of New Jersey and work as a Litigation Paralegal at Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton LLP. Emma holds a Doctor of Law (JD) from Harvard Law School and a Bachelor of Arts in Government & Law and Spanish from Lafayette College, along with a program focused on cultural identity and social justice in Chile.
