Family Defense Intern at Brooklyn Defender Services

Helena Brittain is a dedicated law student at Columbia Law School, currently serving as a Family Defense Intern at Brooklyn Defenders. With a diverse background in legal practice, Helena has worked as a Legal Extern at Neighborhood Defender Service, representing low-income residents in criminal cases, and interned at Safe Passage Project, defending unaccompanied minors in immigration proceedings. Additional experience includes tutoring students through Varsity Tutors, volunteering with Sanctuary for Families on uncontested divorce cases, and participating in various advocacy roles with organizations such as the American Immigration Lawyers Association and NYPIRG. Helena earned a Bachelor of Arts in Literatures in English and Feminist, Gender and Sexuality Studies from Cornell University.
