Dennis Smyser, CPA, MSMIS, CHC, is a seasoned professional in healthcare auditing and compliance, currently retired but open to consulting opportunities. With a rich background, Dennis has served as the Director of Internal Audit & Compliance at Brooks Health System since 2009, where responsibilities include leading auditing initiatives and ensuring adherence to HIPAA standards as Privacy Officer. Previously, Dennis held the role of Senior Internal Auditor at Mayo Clinic, contributing to the financial integrity of a substantial health system, and coordinated the Internal Audit Department at Alegent Health, overseeing a large organization with numerous healthcare facilities. Dennis holds a Master of Science in Management of Information Systems from the University of Nebraska at Omaha and a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting and Business/Management from Buena Vista University.
