Donald Astrab

Vice Provost Academic Operations, Analytics & Communication at Broward College

Dr. Donald Astrab is the Interim Vice Provost of Academic Operations, Analytics, and Communication. In this role, he provides leadership for Judson A. Samuels South Campus and its Centers as well as general leadership for academic operations and business affairs for all academic areas. He also supports the College's registrar, curriculum services, accessibility resources, and international education. Since joining Broward College in 2014, Dr. Astrab has served in various other roles, ranging from special assistant to the Provost, Dean of the Partnership Center at Coral Springs, Academic Dean for Science & Wellness on the North Campus, and more recently Senior Dean for Analytics, Strategy, and Communication.

Dr. Astrab has served and supported Florida's community college system for over 25 years. He began his career as a full-time professor, teaching chemistry for Eastern Florida State College in 1992. He held numerous leadership positions throughout his career that included Executive Vice President with Eastern Florida State College, Collegewide Dean of Technical Education, Department Chair of Science and Technology at Eastern Florida State College, and other academic leadership positions with Polk State College. Dr. Astrab also served as President of Nassau Community College, the largest single-campus community college in New York.

Dr. Astrab earned his bachelor's degree in Chemistry & Biology from the State University of New York, College at Oswego, a Master of Science in Public Health, and his Ph.D. in Synthetic Organic Chemistry from the University of Hawaii.
