Emma Georgiou has over 25 years of work experience in the environmental services and waste management field. Emma currently serves as the Interim Head of Environmental Services at Broxtowe Borough Council since June 2023. Prior to this role, they were the Waste and Climate Change Manager at the same council from August 2021 to June 2023.
Before joining Broxtowe Borough Council, Emma worked as the Team Manager-Environment at Rushcliffe Borough Council from December 2020 to August 2021. Emma also served as the Environmental Compliance and Waste Manager at Nottingham Trent University from April 2018 to December 2020.
Emma's earlier experiences include a long-term tenure at Broxtowe Borough Council, where they worked as a Waste & Recycling Co-ordinator from February 2002 to April 2018. Emma began their career as an Environmental Officer at Erewash Borough Council in October 1995, where they worked until February 2002.
Throughout their career, Emma Georgiou has developed expertise in environmental compliance, waste management, and climate change. Emma holds a BSc (Hons) degree and is also a member of the Chartered Institution of Wastes Management (MCIWM) and the Society for the Environment (CEnv).
Emma Georgiou began their education journey in 1993 when they enrolled at the University of Derby. Emma pursued a Bachelor of Science BSc (Hons) degree in Environmental Science, which they successfully completed in 1995.
