David Ashton

Partner, Tokyo at Brunswick Group

David joined Brunswick in 2011 and, originally based in Hong Kong, he founded the firm’s insight and research practice, Brunswick Insight, in Asia. David takes a data-driven approach to advising clients across a broad range of issues and mandates including crisis, M&A, corporate reputation, narrative development and corporate governance.

David relocated to Tokyo in the summer of 2020 as Brunswick’s first Partner on the ground in Japan. During his time with the firm, David has experience leading and advising on some of Brunswick’s most complex multi-disciplinary engagements for clients including Jardines, CP Group, Sinopec, WH Group, Standard Chartered, Chevron, Cathay Pacific, Swiss RE, FWD. and Otsuka Holdings. He has advised some of Asia’s largest businesses as they take their place on the global stage and he has worked with many multi-national companies as they seek to navigate issues in Asia.

Before joining Brunswick, David worked in political polling in the United Kingdom and during this period supported both the Conservative Party and the Labour Party. David has an MA in Public Opinion and Polling from the University of Essex, which he passed with distinction, having previously gained a BA in Politics & Law.
