Dr. Lothar Essig has extensive work experience in various roles and companies. Dr. Lothar is currently employed at msg as the EVP: Group Strategy | Business Development Insurance and also serves as the Co-Head of msg digital. Prior to that, they were the Geschäftsbereichsleiter - Head of Business Development Insurance at msg.
Before joining msg, Dr. Essig worked at KPMG Deutschland as a Partner in Financial Services. Dr. Lothar also held leadership positions at Munich Re (Group), including Head of Central Division and Senior Project Manager, Deputy Head of Department Strategy Implementation and Org Development.
Earlier in their career, Dr. Essig was a Senior Engagement Manager at McKinsey & Company. Additionally, they worked as a Research Fellow at MEA - Mannheim Research Institute for the Economics of Aging and held the role of Geschäftsführer (Managing Assistant) at Mannheimer Institut für Volkswirtschaftslehre und Statistik.
Dr. Lothar Essig has a comprehensive education history. Dr. Lothar started their academic journey in 1993 at the University of Konstanz, where they pursued a degree in Vor-Diplom in the fields of Volkswirtschaftslehre (Economics) and Betriebswirtschaftslehre (Business Administration). From 1995 to 1996, Dr. Essig expanded their knowledge in these subjects at UQAM | Université du Québec à Montréal. Dr. Lothar then returned to the University of Konstanz and completed their Diplom-Volkswirt degree in Applied Economics, Econometrics, and Business Administration in 1997.
Later, from 1996 to 1997, Dr. Essig pursued further studies at the University of Mannheim, focusing on Applied Economics, Econometrics, and Business Administration. Dr. Lothar continued their academic journey at the same university from 1999 to 2004, during which they completed their dissertation, titled "Allokation auf Finanz- und Gütermärkten," and earned a Dr. rer. pol. (Doctor rerum politicarum) degree.
With this diverse educational background, Dr. Lothar Essig has equipped himself with a strong foundation in various disciplines, particularly Economics, Econometrics, and Business Administration.
