Yan Avery

Yan Avery has a diverse and extensive work experience history. Currently, Yan is working as the Co-Founder and CTO at Budge, Inc., where they are involved in building a new fintech startup focused on financial wellness solutions. Before that, Yan worked as an Advisor for Desjardins' Startup in Residence Program. Additionally, Yan served as an Industry Expert and Advisor at Fintech Cadence.

Prior to their current roles, Yan was the Chief Technology Officer at Expertus, an IBM Company, where they specialized in assisting financial institutions and large corporates with high-value payments and treasury liquidity management. They also led the wire payments processing and clearing operations, facilitating daily transactions worth over $50 billion USD.

Before Expertus, Yan worked as an Engineering Lead at Zola.com, leading the Montreal office team and contributing to the development of Zola's e-commerce platform's paper product division. Prior to that, Yan served as an Engineering Lead for Identity & Access Management at AppDirect, where they played a crucial role in building their end-to-end commerce platform.

Yan's earlier experience includes working as a Senior Software Architect at AFS Technologies Inc., developing software for managing and tracking product prices and costs for consumer goods manufacturers. They also served as a Software Development Manager at Kronos, overseeing the development of scheduling components for the Workforce Central application suite.

Yan's career began as a Senior Software Architect at MEI Computer Technology Group and as an Independent Consultant - Lead Web Operations Analyst at Nestlé S.A.

Yan Avery's education history is as follows:

From 1984 to 1990, Yan attended St-Jean-Vianney High School.

From 1989 to 1992, Yan pursued a course in Computer Science & Information Technologies at College Maisonneuve.

Between 1993 and 1998, Yan studied Microprocessors at UQAM | Université du Québec à Montréal.

In 2007, Yan obtained a certification as a Certified Scrum Master (CSM) from ScrumAlliance.org.

In 2011, Yan received a degree in Core Spring from Exit Certified.

In terms of additional certifications, Yan acquired the AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner certification from Amazon Web Services (AWS) in July 2020.

Furthermore, Yan has obtained several certifications from IBM, including Architectural Thinking, Containers & Kubernetes Essentials, IBM Cloud Essentials, Cloud Core, IBM Cloud Pak for Applications, and Enterprise Design Thinking Practitioner. These certifications were obtained between September 2021 and November 2021.
