Emma Beanland

Applied Sports Scientist at Buffalo Bills

Emma Beanland is a Senior Applied Sports Scientist who has worked with a number of major league sports teams to improve their performances. Emma has also worked as a Sports Science Manager and a Sports Scientist. In their current role, they assist and develops athlete performance research and testing initiatives for the Nebraska Athletic Performance Lab (NAPL).

Beanland has always been interested in how the human body works and how it can be optimized for performance. Emma first pursued this interest by studying human movement at Deakin University in Australia. After graduation, they worked as a University Teaching/Tutoring before moving into the sports science field.

Beanland has worked with some of the biggest names in sports, including the MLB, NHL, NFL, NBA, MLS, and Olympic teams. In their previous role as a Sports Science Manager, they recruited, hired and managed a team of Sports Scientists who provided consulting services for a range of clients across wearables and AMS.

In their current role as a Senior Applied Sports Scientist, they work with Athletics Department staff, Strength and Conditioning, Athletic Medicine, Sports Psychology, Sports Analytics and Sports Nutrition staff to improve student-athlete well-being and performance outcomes through actionable data. Emma also works with sports programs and coaches to develop projects and solutions that will enhance individual and team athletic performances.

Emma Beanland has a Bachelor of Exercise and Sports Science (Hons.) from Deakin University in the field of Exercise Physiology.

They are on a team with Christine Dziedzic - Team Dietitian, Desaree Festa - Team Sport Psychologist. Emma Beanland reports to Joe Collins, Director, Sports Performance.
