Gale Justin has a diverse work experience spanning over several years. Gale currently works as the Director of Instructional Technology at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai since February 2016. Prior to this, they held the position of Chief Learning Officer and Chief Advancement Officer at Build Academy, where they managed various aspects of technology, instructional design, and the online platform from June 2015 onwards. Gale also ran their own company called JustinMedia, specializing in strategic planning, learning materials development, and online methodology for institutions and public systems since January 2000.
Gale'sprevious roles include being the Director of Educational Technology at Pratt Institute from January 2012 to February 2015, Director of Instructional Technology and visiting Assistant Professor at Manhattanville College from January 2001 to December 2010, and Director of Faculty Development at Adelphi University from 1998 to 2000. Prior to that, Gale was a Senior Research Associate at Education Development Center (EDC) from 1996 to 1998.
Before their career in academia, they served as the Principal Investigator for the World Civilizations Curriculum Development Project at City University of New York's City College of New York from 1989 to 1992, a Visiting Assistant Professor of History at City College of New York from 1986 to 1992, and a Teaching Fellow specializing in the History of American Women at Kingsborough Community College in 1980.
Gale Justin holds a Ph.D. and M.Phil. in History and English Literature from The Graduate Center, City University of New York, completed in 1998. Before that, from 1972 to 1973, Justin was a University Fellow in Medieval Studies at Yale University. Justin also obtained a B.A., magna cum laude, with an independent major in Medieval Studies from Vassar College in 1969.
