The Estimator is responsible for all aspects of estimating in our Level5 drywall and insulation division. Estimating efforts would include pre-construction, hard bids, negotiated bids, budgets, general conditions, systems studies and comparisons, value engineering, contractor and subcontractor relations, and staying abreast of industry developments applicable to estimating.
Responsibilities:
- Review project plans, requirements, and specifications
- Prepare accurate quantity takeoffs and materials pricing
- Coordinate subcontract solicitations and job walks
- Determine labor and construction equipment costs
- Prepare conceptual estimates
- Meet and maintain bidding and work schedules
- Submit requisitions for the purchase of materials
- Compare competitive trade bids
- Review preliminary quotes and pre-bid estimates with Project Manager. Secure all bid documents (bid forms and quote letters)
- Participate in bid compilation on bid day
- Assist job site staff with estimates after bid award
- Perform post-bid buyouts (if applicable)
- Maintain good relationships with suppliers and subcontractors
- Complete other responsibilities as assigned
Requirements:
- Minimum 5 years of project engineering or related experience
- Knowledgeable in plaster
- Ability to read and understand specifications and drawings
- Ability to make accurate judgments and calculations
- Working knowledge of construction costs and principles
- Estimating experience (quantity takeoffs, preconstruction experience; engineering design knowledge, and project management experience desirable)
- Drafting and computer skills
- Solid understanding of metal framing/drywall construction, processes, systems, and codes.
