Srini Janarthanam

Srini Janarthanam has a diverse work experience in the field of conversational AI and natural language processing. Srini currently works as the Lead Conversational AI Scientist at Builder.ai, where they lead a team of NLP Data Scientists and Engineers, focusing on speech, language, and conversational problems. Previously, Srini worked as a Conversational AI Engineer at NatWest, where they designed cognitive capabilities using applied ML and conversational strategies for a customer-facing chatbot. Srini also worked as a Director & Technology Lead at Dhiyantra Limited, where they developed chatbot solutions using AI and NLP technologies. Additionally, Srini has authored a book on Chatbots and Conversational UI Development and has worked as a Research Associate at Heriot-Watt University and the University of Edinburgh, where they specialized in spoken dialogue systems and natural language processing. Srini started their career as a Research Associate at Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, working on NLP projects. Prior to that, they worked as a Technical Assistant at Meadows & Passmore Limited, where they built an automation tool for creating printed catalogues. Srini's experience also includes working as a Blogger/Speaker and a Technical Architect.

Srini Janarthanam has a strong educational background in the field of informatics and intelligent systems. They obtained a Ph.D in Informatics from The University of Edinburgh in 2010 and an M.Sc in Intelligent Systems from the University of Sussex in 2005. Prior to that, they completed a certificate program in Linguistics from the University of Madras in 2004 and a B.E in Computer Science from Bharathiar University in 2002. In addition to their formal education, Srini has also pursued various certifications in areas such as system thinking, systems engineering, generative AI, data science, machine learning, and design.
