Most recently, in 2020, they served as the City Leader and Founder of the Des Moines Chapter at Bunker Labs, where they supported veteran entrepreneurs and promoted the organization's values within the local community. Prior to that, in 2018, they were the Managing Owner at Strategery Holdings, focusing on private equity investments in start-ups and small businesses. In 2007, Bernie pursued a Master's degree in Russian, East European, and Eurasian Studies from the University of Kansas. Bernie continued to expand their knowledge in 2013 by attending a Summer Program in Russian Language and Literature at Indiana University Bloomington.

Bernie Stone then transitioned into the business field, earning a Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) degree in Business Administration and Management, General from The University of Iowa Tippie College of Business in 2017.
