Fitsum Woldemeskel

Fitsum Woldemeskel (PhD) is a seasoned research scientist specializing in hydrology with extensive experience in both academic and operational settings. Currently, at the Bureau of Meteorology since July 2015, Fitsum has advanced through roles including Research Scientist, Senior Flood Operations Specialist, and Hydrologist. Prior to this, from October 2013 to June 2015, Fitsum was a Post-doctoral Research Scientist and Lecturer at UNSW, where responsibilities included instructing postgraduate courses and conducting research on climate change impacts on hydrology. Earlier experiences include internships at Waternet and Rijkswaterstaat, focusing on water supply management and flow control systems, respectively. Educational qualifications comprise a PhD in Hydrology from UNSW, a Master's degree in Civil Engineering with a focus on Water Management from Delft University of Technology, and a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from Jimma University.
