Derek Brown

Derek Brown is the Director of the Washington DC Region at Burns Engineering, Inc. Derek has over 20 years of experience in the engineering and transit industries.

Brown started their career at Harris Corporation in 1995 as a Sr. Program Manager. Derek oversaw the development and implementation of complex dispatch control and communications systems for public transit agencies throughout the USA, Canada, and Australia. In 2013, they transitioned to Ross & Baruzzini where they served as the Director of the Rail & Transit division. There they were responsible for leading a team of engineers and consultants, as well as overseeing business growth, CRM, and business operations.

In their current role at Burns Engineering, Derek is responsible for overseeing the engineering projects in the Washington DC region. Derek has successfully managed projects totaling nearly $17 million in billings.

Derek Brown reports to Matthew J. Burns, President & CEO. They work with Regis Gaughan - Director, Healthcare, John E. Burns - Chief Operating Officer & SVP, and William G. Mecaughey - Chief Financial Officer.
